GFI: Company overhaul benefits MSPs

The decision to split GFI Software’s operations into two separate entities will accelerate innovation and maximise the speed to market of new products, according to LogicNow (formerly GFI MAX) general manager, Alistair Forbes.

Last month GFI Software spun off its cloud-based business – re-named LogicNow – which comprises the GFI MAX remote monitoring and management (RMM) portfolio, MAXfocus. GFI will focus on its traditional software licensing portfolio, while LogicNow will manage the cloud-based subscription side of the business.

“Separation will allow both GFI and LogicNow to focus on their core markets and optimise their product strategies for their large and growing customer bases,” Walter Scott, GFI and LogicNow CEO, announced at the time.

“The MAXfocus remote management platform helps MSPs deliver a service proposition rather than a product sale. How we sell and support the two product lines is very different,” explains Forbes.

“The product strategy is the same but we’re accelerating the rate of innovation and speed to market.”

LogicNow claims to have the largest customer base in the market with 11,000 MSPs globally, and 1800 in the UK, including the likes of Complete IT, BlueCube and Synergy Technology. It also says MAXfocus, which integrates different vendors’ technologies on one management platform, has grown at more than 50 percent per year for each of the last five years.

The vendor recently integrated a hosted email security service, MAX Mail, into the platform, the first firm to do so in the RMM space.

Elsewhere LogicNow is also scheduling a new portal for MSPs to access marketing material and support materials for sometime in Q1 2015.
