Autotask buys Soonr

Man signing a contract

Autotask is to acquire secure file sharing provider Soonr in a bid to broaden its portfolio of hosted services.

The hosted IT business technology provider said it was acquiring the file sharing firm in order that it could “better serve the needs of our customers, increasing customer ROI as well as their ability to scale”. Soonr offers a file sharing and synchronisation (FSS) solution with enterprise-grade functionality in a hybrid-cloud environment.

“Data is a core productivity tool for any SMB/SME/enterprise and Soonr provides a tool that is far superior to legacy solutions that combine local file servers and storage appliances stitched together with intranets and accessed by VPN. With Soonr, Autotask now provides an FSS solution built for business with better security, flexibility, productivity and collaboration,” it said in an FAQ.

Autotask said that Soonr customers would experience “no interruption to service or support. It will be business as usual”.

Mark Cattini, president and CEO of Autotask, says that with his firm offering mission critical processes for customers, the acquisition “fits perfectly within that objective and represents a significant managed services' revenue opportunity for all MSPs and ITSPs."

"FSS [file sharing and synchronisation] is a fundamental element of business continuity that ITSPs are expected to provide. Soonr provides a HIPAA-compliant, SaaS solution with 99.99 percent uptime that is IT-approved, easy to deploy, and simple to use,” he adds.

The Jordan Edmiston Group acted as the financial advisor to Soonr in the transaction. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

As reported last May, Autotask has hinted that it was about to go on an acquisition spree. It said that it had plans to shake-up the professional services automation (PSA) market via an accelerated product roadmap, and an aggressive growth strategy. The previous September, Autotask bought UK firm CentraStage, a specialist in cloud-based remote monitoring and management (RMM). Headquartered in Buckinghamshire.
